Customer Rating: Summary: SOO HARD Comment: This game is sooooo bad the plane is slow and sooo un realistic the game its self is not realistic. The game is soooo Dumb and boring and hard sooooooooo hard. NOW FOR THE GOOD STUFF 36 different missions set over 3 distinct period of time. and master the navys top5 plans. and thats pretty much it.
Customer Rating: Summary: not horrible Comment: caetainly not great though. Everything seems way out of proportion in this game. The aircraft all move incredibly slow. There no sense of speed whatsoever. the scall of the vehicles is so out of whack it almost makes me want to quit playing in disgust. Tanks about about a fifth of the size of an F-15, let alone trucks. Hell, apparently f-15's are even bigger than battleships! But don't worry, battleship can also be destroyed easily with bullets. the graphics are a little better than one would find in a nintendo 64 version also. If there's any saving grace to this game it's that it is TH EONLY flight sim game on game cube. It is kind of fun to try to spot a small group of bombers in the clouds over a city too, but that's about it.
Customer Rating: Summary: Top Crap Comment: This is one of the worst games ever made. I remember the old NES version and if you played that today, it would be about 20 times better. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS CRAP!
Seriously, there are tons of games so much better than this it's ridiculous.
Customer Rating: Summary: Excellent Flight Fight Comment: "Top Gun: Combat Zones," which is what it is really called, is a game which has devoted nearly its full potential to providing an arcade experience to those who do not want to spend tons of quarters actually in the arcade. You are a pilot, whether one for the NAVY is to be considered and debated, and your primary goal is to complete the mulitiple primary goals to survive the missions. Life is a tough one in "Combat Zones," to the point where afterburner conservation is a major element to success or failure.
You begin in an F-14 Tomcat with the most realistic capabilities for a game where 20 missiles are not uncommon, and start your training to hell and back again with astonishing level of tension. To unlock more modes and planes, you must complete "Eras" that have both a "Academy" (Which is a major downfall, you can't skip the academy, although it is still extremely fun), and a "Warzone." For you Flight Simulator fans, it is extremely realistic and you can see flaps, ailerons, and elevators to the finest details. The F-22, which you unlock as soon as you get to the 3rd Era, even has vectoring thrust.
The game graphics are nearly superb, but some smoke effects would have been nice. If you destroy a target, it will just vanish, with no smoke or something. Ground objects are good, but not perfect, and there are no "invisible barriers" that you would magically crash into.
The gameplay was around 6-12 hours.
Overall, a good game.
Customer Rating: Summary: Awesome Game! Comment: Okay I only have one complaint when there is a message thing coming on when you are facing a wall and your fairly close when the transmission is over you do crash and die but it doesn't happen very often. Oh, I was about to forget; hey, no Navy planes guy, so what if they're not all Navy planes, I don't care just as long as they're cool, which they are! The firepower is pretty cool too.
