Customer Rating: Summary: TRIGGER-HAPPY FUN 8.75 OUT OF 10 Comment: Unreal Championship is a game based around team games like team deathmatch capture the flag, and more. Although this game seems more designed towards use on Xbox Live (A system I never used nor wanted to use), it's still a great game to play in single-player or with a buddy.
WHAT THE GAME IS: An arena title in vain of the Dreamcast classic Quake 3: arena. In the future there is only one sport known as the Championship, in which you select your team members, name your team, and kill the competition with your many weapons.
GRAPHICS: Time has not been kind to this game since its release six years ago, it's not awful to look at, it's just not very impressive. It doesn't stand the test of time like the DOA games on Xbox.
MUSIC: Heavy metal music fits in perfectly with this game, and it's done quite well.
SOUND: The quality is good. The weapons have good sound effects and there's even some good voice-acting. The explosions are nice touch.
GAMEPLAY: This game is technically a first-person shooter, and as you'd expect from Xbox, the controls are nearly flawless. Most of the weapons you get are pretty awesome to use, but there are a few that totally suck and that you'll hate using. The arenas you get put in aren't just inside, they are also set outside and are fun to kill opponents in. When it comes to the rocket launcher, it would have been nice to have a lock-on system than hoping it hits an enemy. Most of the modes you get to play in are great like I love team deathmatch and capture the flag, but there's one mode I absolutely despised playing in... Double Domination (Worst. Multiplayer. Mode. Ever.). In this mode your team has to have two areas marked and they have to remain marked for ten seconds. This is a huge problem because the teams are constantly stealing these areas from each other. I also didn't like the fact that I was timed for certain modes. It works in deathmatch, but it shouldn't be in capture the flag. It also would have been nice if this game had a map maker mode like Timesplitters, but sadly it doesn't. Negatives aside this game is quite wonderful to play with a friend or even by yourself.
OVERALL: If you own an old Xbox this game is worth a buy, even if Xbox Live is void on the game now. Just invite a friend over if you want to play with a human opponent.
THE GOOD: Nearly flawless FPS controls, lots of weapons, decent graphics, good heavy metal music, lots of blood, good arena designs, most of the modes are good.
THE BAD: One mode sucks, some weapons suck, and there's no option to build your own arena.
Customer Rating: Summary: Even without Xbox Live Comment: I still love this game without Xbox Live. The ladder campaign is fun to do over and over with the huge selection of characters. It would take a while to finish the ladder as a Human, Juggernaught, Nightmare, ect. all on Godlike. Don't listen to people who say it's not fun alone, because it is.
Customer Rating: Summary: Unbelievable, absolutely amazing Comment: This is easily the best multiplayer game for the Xbox. It is also probably the best online FPS ever made, and I promise you I have played a LOT of FPS'. Balance is nearly perfect, the weapons are all completely unique, the races and affinities (increased damage/rate of fire/ammo) contribute to the depth of gameplay. Gametypes are all great, each one appealing to a different player, or a different side of the same player. The maps are excellent, well balanced, and allow each race to employ it's unique traits and strengths while still forcing players to overcome each races weaknesses.
The pacing, though, is where the game really shines. This is easily the fastest moving game I have ever played, furious and chaotic, but still managing to stay strategic, by naught but the will of God. If you lack reflexes, prepare to face a steep learning curve if you jump into an online game, as your learning curve is gonna sting a little. And yes, I do intend this to be a compliment to the game - people who aren't good at a game should know it immediately, and should be forced to get good to win. Equalizers are just a games way of telling you it's ok, don't worry, you don't have to be good to win.
Minor framerate issues do exist, but this is less a matter of the game itself and more a matter of its interaction with XBL. Server upload/download is slow, mostly because this was a launch title for XBL. Things weren't quite perfected at that point. Hopefully by the time they BC it to the 360 that will have been fixed, although knowing MS they probably won't put a whole lot of effort into it.
In the end, this is a must-have for anyone who finds online shooters even TOLERABLE, the image of perfection itself.
Customer Rating: Summary: A lot of fun. Comment: Great game based on Unreal Engine 2 (obviously) intended for multiplayer, but is also good for the lone offline gamer because it uses BOTS! Bungi should take notice. Now half the games out there seem to use a modified Unreal engine...Love the taunts.
Customer Rating: Summary: SOMEONE TELL ME Comment: if in unreal championship that if you can turn the blood and gore and/or taunts on and off
