Customer Rating: Summary: Favorite game in the Jak and Daxter series! Comment: I'll admit that when I saw the cover of Jak 2 for the first time I was a bit confused at why Jak had a gun. In fact, it upset me, especially when I was in a futuristic world in a city. The thing is though, that first time of playing Jak 2, while I had my doubts, I didn't stop playing and knock it off as a bad sequel like so many others do. I was introduced to missions and I absolutely loved that. I love missions in a game and so by the time I got done with pretty much one of the first missions, which is getting the flag to get into the Underground, I loved it!
Jak 2 continues on from the first one, delving into a much deeper plot, involving new characters that are easily attachable (like Torn). I grew in love with the characters and the city of Haven. I just really loved the whole idea of having a sort of..primitive people in a futuristic city with technology that most of the citizens didn't understand. And, me being a lover of constant communication with other characters in the game, I instantly fell in love with it. Citizens walk everywhere in Haven and you do have the choice to punch them (or kill them) and steal their vehicles (kind of reminded me of GTA but it's not GTA so get over it people). The plot is original and though it may be confusing by the end, if you keep playing it over and over, in sequence with the first game, it makes sense. I love games like that, where the plot is so deep that it leaves you confused. Racing was introduced into this, which I think Naughty Dog loved more than its players, but it added to the game. Jak loves racing and that goes along with his personality. I, personally, do not think that there are too many races in the game. You have 3 main races in the Stadium and then a few races in the city. That's all. The rest of the game, more than half of the game, is missions. Dark Jak is also an upside. It makes Jak more unique and allows him to past some obstacles. Jak adds to the comedy. In fact, if it weren't for Daxter and his personality, then the game would be too serious in itself and while the game does have a serious tone to its plot and characters, it also has a comical side. Daxter brings out everyone's true personality, especially with Jak and Torn. Jak proves that in spite of the situations at hand, he can laugh or smile at Daxter, showing that he does have a sense of humor too. Torn just gets pissed if Daxter even talks. It shows that Torn is or acts all tough and is easily annoyed by things like Daxter. Tess adores Daxter and quite frankly..Tess scares me. She can go from bitchy to weird to sweet in seconds. I love all of the characters, even the Baron. They are just so well developed and the voice acting is great! I couldn't have picked anyone better for Jak's voice. See in the beginning I was a bit upset that Jak talked but he grew on me after a while. Even after you beat the game there is still much you can do afterward. Spread throughout the city are devices that you can talk to Torn on. He gives you challenges such as racing and hunting orbs, which have become rare since the first game. Even then, if you're bored, you can visit many places that you've already been to, search for orbs, or mess with people. One time I tried to see how many citizens I could punch into the water (in the slums). I got a bunch of people in there, all of them just swimming.
Overall, I love this game! I have beaten it more times than I can count and it is my favorite in the series, being right in the middle. I love Haven City and everything about it. I still become frustrated on missions, having to do them over and over sometimes, but it's good that the challenge is there. Love it, one of my favorite games.
Customer Rating: Summary: Awesome Comment: This game is awesome. It is super fun and the setting is really cool. Great Game.
Customer Rating: Summary: Pretty good game. Comment: It's a fun game to play. Has some good challenges in it. I haven't beaten it yet. I originally got it for my sons who are 8 and 10, but it has a few cuss words in it. Not horrible, but enough to make my sons snicker at it. I let my oldest son play, but it's a little violent for my youngest. So, I think it's a perfect shoot 'em up game for older children, no blood which is a plus.
Customer Rating: Summary: Not so much Comment: Okay so this is my daughter reviewing, not me:
I am a teen girl and I love video games! This video game is one of my least favorites, mainly because of the controls and music. I hate to dissapoint some of you extreme Jak fans, but this game is not cool.
Pros:
-can be hilarious if you make a mistake
-Jak is sorta hot
-Daxter is so great
Cons:
-music is only ok
-gameplay gets boring after 3 hours
-some missions too stupid, such as tank scence, where i outsmarted the tank and cant get to the explosive room
-dark Jak usually starts when you dont want it
i know some people love this game, but this is my honest opinion.
Customer Rating: Summary: Hard yet Beautiful Comment: Jak 2 is the sequel to the Jak and Daxter franchise. Its is much darker and much more complex. It is also much more realistic. This game is for hardcore thinkers and gamers. Action and puzzle sequences fuse together to create an honestly unique game play. There is occasional language but it is usually necessary in this game to help the darkness. This game is the pinnacle of great gaming for the ps2.
