Summary: An Instant Classic That Still Has It
Comment: I played Viewtiful Joe when I was younger, but it eventually got worn out and wouldn't play any more. After buying another copy here, I found the game to be just a good as when I first played it. Definitely worth it.

Summary: Joe makes you use your head, but it's a ton of fun!
Comment: I just got a Wii and was searching around for cheap Gamecube games that I could plan on it and found this title.
This is one of the funnest games I've played in a long time.
The 2D to "3D" switch when Joe transforms is really amazing.
They put some serious thought into this game.
It's like I've been transported into a cool 80s cartoon or something.
I don't see how anybody could not love Viewtiful Joe!

Summary: Fun, Fun, Fun!
Comment: Like everyone has said, this is a return to the 2D games, and what better way to usher in the revival of the 2D side-scrollers than to also introduce a really cool character. That character would be Viewtiful Joe, a nerd who worships his favorite super hero, only to be sucked into one of the hero's movies and becomes part of it. This game is great and shows that 3D is awesome, but 2D can still hold up to the best of them. This game has all of what you want and need in a game, and an over abundance of challenges. This game is really challenging, so amateur gamers beware! If you love games with an edge and challenging missions, then this is your game!

Summary: Over rated
Comment: WAY WAY too difficult. Don't bother taking time to look at the scenery on this game, you'll be back to look at it again soon. When you get killed (and this will happen a LOT) you start at the way way beginning of a level, so you'll get plenty of opportunities to see the same scenes again and again. I'm a fairly sophisticated gamer, and I regret chosing the "adult" difficulty setting. I don't know who they think they're selling these games to. If you do risk buying it, chose the easy setting. There are very very few save points. The only reason you make progress, if you tough it out, is because you make "money" when you beat up bad guys and eventually you can buy power ups that get you through tough areas.
I judge a game's success by how I feel after playing it. If I feel amused and entertained, and I can't wait to find out what happens next then it's a good purchase. With Viewtiful Joe, it's like a angry grudge. I played about half way through it and I've been irritated and angry at Capcom the whole time. What a horrble way to spend a night.
I will never pay retail for a Capcom game again. Buy it from a second-hand seller.

Summary: For the overgrown Power Ranger fan.
Comment: I kid you not, if grew-up watch Ninja Turtles and Power Rangers, this game was made for you. Playing Viewtiful Joe is the most fun I've had playing video games since my days of playing TMNT3 the ol' NES. It incorporates the same style of gameplay in which countless enemies, that look Putties from Power Rangers, come storming in only to meet up with your fist. The catch, you get use cool Special Effects Power, called VFX, to slow down, speed up and zoom in.
I should mention that this game is hard, I mean hard. So, if you get frustrated easily, you might want to rent first. There is a Kids difficultly to help you get a step up on the competition. Once you've gotten there you can challenge the game on even harder difficulties, and unlocking more heroes as you play. It's a true challenge for anyone of any gamming level.
My bottom line, if you're looking for some old school 2D action, buy Viewtiful Joe. Oh, and it's player's choice!!!
