Customer Rating: Summary: Frustrating gameplay Comment: There is exactly one reason that I hated this game: poor AI (artificial intelligence). In this game you control one character in battle, while you are accompanied by two other characters controlled by the computer AI. These computer players are more of a reliability than anything. You have a few choices for their behavior, but none of them seem to have a significant effect on how they fight. It's really only two settings they have: rush recklessly into battle and die, or DO NOTHING. First of all, why is there even a setting for doing nothing? At least make them dodge enemies or something... This was retarded. Other than that, they always recklessly rush into battle and won't even dodge obvious attacks or back away from enemies when they're in danger. So, they die off within one or two battles.
And if you expect to heal them, think again. They won't protect you, so you'll likely be interrupted by enemies when you try to heal them. So they'll die, and then you can't even heal yourself because it takes too long to cast without someone protecting you from enemies.
What this all means is this. You're going to have to grind levels and fight for an hour on ridiculous enemies to move the story on for 20 minutes. Then you'll repeat.
And trust me, the enemies are ridiculous. In one of the first dungeon areas, you fight these men in robes who yell out things like "No, my money!" and "I hate you!!". These are fat men in robes in some ruins that are supposed to be inhabited by bandits. WHAT ARE FAT ROBED MEN DOING IN BANDIT INFESTED RUINS?! I'm sorry, it just is too ridiculous.
Here's some of the good in this game. The roleplaying aspect is pretty interesting, though awfully shallow. By this I mean, your roleplaying doesn't change the story too significantly. The exploring is OK... but still pretty lame. Most treasure chests are filled with only healing berries (really lame). There is a lot of voice acting, but it is pretty horrible. The characters are shallow, and their actions and dialogue are unrealistic.
Overall, it's just poorly designed. Bad gameplay, story, and characters.
Customer Rating: Summary: There are no word to express what I thought of this game Comment: I would rank this as one of the top 10 games for PS2 - the story had a lot of depth behind it - you would never know what happen the next chapter. Game play is not hard, and there are many sidequests and item creation that let you make a wide variety of items (it is never one hundred percent created from one item to another and you need to recruit characters to make the right combine of characters to create the item.) Unlike most other rpg games, the battles are in real time as you run around the ground, either attacking, casting magic, or use special moves on enemies that either actively stalks your characters or someone else in your party so you need to keep your eyes on your party.
Again, I would say Star Ocean, till the end of time is that good a game you should play!
Customer Rating: Summary: A game worth playing. Comment: Star Ocean Till the End of Time is one of the best RPG I really enjoy. The only RPG that allow character to usse food to heal and revive the fighters. The graphics is one of the best and it very clear. The game also offer different ending for the main character. I love playing this for the big fight and reward, it worth the challenge of trying it in a difficult level. I think Star Ocean Till the end of time is one of the few RPG I love playing over and over.
Customer Rating: Summary: Love this game!!! Comment: I absolutely love this game!!! I just can't quit playing it!!! There are soo much stuff that you can do. There are a ton of side quests and you can get different characters for different parts depending on relationships with those characters. Not to mention that you can collect battle trophies which passes the time that you spend leveling your characters up. There is also a two player battle game on here where you can play any character and they have different outfits. Also you don't always have to play the main character Fayt. You can choose to play anyone that you have in your party. To be honest there is a lot of talking at times but the interaction between the characters is hilarious!!!
Now I have read some of the other reviews and they do seem a bit harsh. I mean just cause square makes this game doesn't mean that it's just like final fanasty nor should it be compared to it. Not every RPG is a final fanasty or anything like it!!! I hate it when everyone clumps things together like that it's like comparing Iron Man and Batman. Two different comics...... (marvel and D.C.). Yeah final fanasty is the most popluar franchise and most are really awesome to play but they are not necessarily the bases of all RPGs. I know a few people that like this game and hate final fanasty. So it's like comparing apples to oranges!
Sorry for all of you reading this and going wtf. I just felt that this game isn't getting fair reviews cause of all the comparing. This is a definite game for all who love RPG games. For all the reason's listed above. I would also recommend getting the strategy guide cause there is sooo much you can miss without it. Happy playing!!!!!
Customer Rating: Summary: Good Collectible Comment: Did pretty well on gamerankings, I'm an RPG nut so I'm all for a game like this anyway. But all aside it's a good game, standard rpg mechanics with a decent story.
