Summary: Ok....but......
Comment: I definately like "100 Nights of Frights better"! In "Unmasked", the monsters don't even chase you! It's ok but my fave is still nights of frights.

Comment: Scooby Doo Unmasked is definately my favorite video game. It's cute funny
and just challenging enough so i dont get bored. If youre the type of person that plays video games 24/7 and your farorite game is something like bloodgusher 3 you'd think its stupid, but its really funny and perfect for scooby doo fans. It's a good buy, Youll want to play it over and over!!!!

Comment: My oldest daughter loves the game and that's who it was for so over all it was a good choice.

Summary: All Around, The Best Scooby-Doo Game Thus Far
Comment: Scooby-Doo Unmasked is MUCH better than the last flop (Mystery Mayhem which I traded in not long after getting it) and a bit more fun the original, Night of 100 Frights. While Unmasked doesn't have the extensive game play that 100 Frights had nor the superior graphics, it more than makes up for in fun and inventiveness.

The premise of Scooby-Doo Unmasked: Scooby and the gang are looking forward to meeting Fred's cousin, Jed. But when they arrive at the Monstrous Fright & Magic special effects company, Jed is nowhere to be found. It that wasn't enough, the company's top-secret Mubber formula, an amazing invention that allows Monstrous Fright & Magic to create the most realistic monster costumes even conceived, has also disappeared--and Jed is the prime suspect! With Mubber-fied monsters popping up all over the place, it's up to Scooby-Doo and the super-sleuths of Mystery Inc. to stop the creepy costumed creatures, unmask the truth, and prove Jed's innocence.

In some ways, Unmasked is a cross between 100 Frights and Mystery Mayhem: it has some of the free-range game play of 100 Frights and Scooby is on his own. Yet, Scooby touches base with the gang after each level, sometimes interacting with the others and even rescuing them.

Using Mubber amassed from defeating Mubberized villians--as well as a Mubber machine--Scooby can change into 3 different costumes which will help him complete certain levels. These costumes are Kung Fu (helping him to peform martial arts moves and mega strikes), Bat (for riding air currents and gliding), and Robin Hood (for shooting plungers at the enemy and targets). Scooby needs to find the Costume Coins--and have enough Mubber--to be able to wear the costumes, though.

As in 100 Frights, Scooby chomps on Scooby Snacks which help lead him to where he needs to go next. After eating 100, he gets another medal. Scooby starts out with 4 medals (when he uses all 4, he loses his life) but if he finds food throughout the game, he can return to Shaggy's food cart. Shaggy will mix ingredients and each recipe increase Scooby's medals by 1. (I think I had 10-12 by the time I finished the game.)

Also, Scooby collects clues which help you unlock new levels and secret areas. After you return to the central "hub", you show Velma the clues.

Scooby Doo Unmasked features 3 large levels: Shuddery Showdown in Chinatown, Haunted Rockin' Roller Coaster, and Harum Scare'em Museum. Chinatown was my LEAST favorite level. I couldn't wait for it to be over. In many respects, it's probably the most difficult. It's also the most lackluster, in my opinion. The sewers are quite tricky to navigate and skipping along tree tops is also tricky because if you stay atop one too long, you'll fall through.

The Haunted theme park is probably my favorite. I especially loved the Water Park (the sliding is AMAZING). Riding on ghostly roller coasters was fun as was the circus. The big top really got my heart pumping because you have to navigate high up on trapeze as well as bounce on huge clown balloons. You also get to battle evil clowns, strong men, and more.

The museum was pretty fun, too. There's an underwater section, a prehistoric section (where you have to battle dinosaurs), and much more.

Unmasked didn't seem to be as extensive as 100 Frights, but it WAS easier. Don't get me wrong, there's some really tricky parts in this game that took me hours to master! Supposedly, Unmasked uses an all-new game engine featuring "contour shading" that makes the game look just like the cartoon. I beg to differ. If they were shooting for simplified and lacking detail, then they achieved that...especially with the villians. I think the graphics of 100 Frights were much better and reminded me a lot more of the spirit of the cartoon if not the letter.

One thing that bugged me about Unmasked is that you have to go through an ENTIRE level before saving. So even if you've completed several areas, you will LOSE that gameplay unless you get to the very end where you can save your progress. I found this irritating and a bit frustrating.

Unmasked moved along a bit faster than 100 Frights and is much more forgiving control wise. There are neat challenges like flying airplanes, skidding down water slides, gliding atop ballons, shooting at targets while moving, and more.

All around, I think Unmasked is the best Scooby game thus far. If the set-up were similar to 100 Frights and included the same quality of graphics, it would be 5-star superb. But it's a good game that will likely keep the attention of children over 6 as well as 30-something gamers like myself who love Scooby.

Summary: Great for kids...to watch
Comment: I got this game becasue my 4 year old LOVES Scooby Doo, and he would watch me play. Now, I'm not a gaming expert, but I have beaten DOOM (not bad for a girl), but this game is not easy. Although some parts are easy to get through, there are some parts that have taken me hours of trying. My son loves to watch me play, but I don't even know how a young teen could do some of the tricky maneuvers. It's great for kids to watch, but unless they are awesome at gaming, it's better for adults to play.
