Customer Rating: Summary: Sent them back Comment: I too had trouble with the batteries and sent them back. The instruction sheet pictured sliding 2 AAA batteries into each stick, which seemed simple enough. However, as the other reviewer stated, there is a metal clip inside that is apparently supposed to be removed with a paperclip. I jammed them in without knowing this which of course caused them not to work. After doing so, I found a 2nd version of the instruction sheet buried in the box which pictured the correct way. Too late at that point. Even if this wasn't an issue, they would have gone back. They felt like sticks of glass that would shatter at any moment.
Customer Rating: Summary: decent fun addition to your RB set Comment: These sticks are a fun little addition to the rockband setup - When you strike with the stick the lights glow then fade with each strike, so it gives a nice interactive light show when playing drums. They arent overly bright so they dont distract from the game, but they are bright enough to notice.
Unlike the previous reviewer, I didnt have an issue installing the batteries - it came with a clear instruction sheet that shows you have to insert them between the metal clips inside the stick tube.
The overall construction seems decent, but they dont feel indestructible either - I'd be wary of striking with extreme force. They are certainly solid enough for normal aggressive play though, and they are a tad bit heavier than the standard sticks - something to note if you get tired quickly playing the drums.
For $20 this is definitely a luxury item and not a necessity, but if you are really into Rock Band or drumming in general, these are a fun purchase.
Customer Rating: Summary: Poor Quality Battery System Comment: The drum sticks are comfortable, but heavier than the stock Rock Bank wooden drum sticks (not that I mind that). Inserting the batteries however turned out to be a miserable experience. The instructions say to just insert two batteries in the drum stick ends. What they don't tell you is that there is a thin metal ribbon that runs the length of the battery compartment that needs to wrap around the batteries. If you just shove in the batteries (the way you would expect), the metal ribbon gets crammed into the lighting mechanism and breaks. A neat gimmick but the quality of these sticks is not very good.
