Restore health
Pause the game, then hold L1 + L2 and press Down, Up, Down, Up, Right, Left, Circle. For the Japanese version of the game, pause the game, then hold L1 + L2 and press Up, Down, Up, Down, Left, Right, Square. Note: This cannot be done in versus mode.
Increase sword hardness
Pause the game, then hold R1 + R2 and press Right(2), Left(2), Down, Up, Circle. The main player's currently equipped sword will increase in hardness by one. Repeat as needed to reach the maximum hardness of five. Note: This cannot be done in versus mode. Increase brightness
Hold L2 then L1 and rotate the Left Analog-stick several times in either direction while both buttons are held. Your character's eye will begin to flash and will illuminate your surroundings at night. This can also be done during intermission sequences. For the Japanese version of the game, hold R1 and rotate the Left Analog-stick several times in either direction.
Versus mode
At the title screen, hold L1 + R1 and press Square + Circle. If you entered the code correctly, you will hear a sound. Alternatively, kill the sword smith to unlock versus mode. For the Japanese version of the game, hold L1 + R2 and press Right + Square at the title screen.
All sword skills
Pause the game in versus mode, then hold R1 and press R2(2), L1(2), L2(2). Release R1, then press R2. If you entered the code correctly, you will hear a sound. For the Japanese version of the game, hold R1 and press Left(2), Right(2), L1(2), L2(2), L1, Right, Left.
Change characters
At new game menu with the face, clothes, and sword options, press L1, R1(2), L2(3), R2(2), R2 + Square. Press Left or Right to choose a character. For the Japanese version of the game, highlight the name entry prompt for the main player at the character selection screen, then press L1, R1, L2, R2, L2, R1, L1, Left(4), R2 + Square.
Random sword
At the sword inventory screen, hold L1 + R1 and press Circle, Down(2), Up(2), Down, Up, Circle. If you entered the code correctly, you will hear a sound. One random sword will be added to your inventory, with random attributes. For the Japanese version of the game, press L1, Up, Down, R2, Left, Right, L1, Up, Down, then hold L1 + L2 + R1 and press Square at the sword inventory screen.
Control title screen
At the title screen after the cherry blossoms stop falling, press Square to have more fall. Hold L1 + L2 + R1 + R2 and press Square to have a large number of blossoms fall.
Easy money
Join the Kurou family. Get about 50 yen fighting the man when you join the "family." You will get about 50 yen more for baby-sitting the kid. Easy points

On the first part of the game on day 1, skip the bridge and go directly to the foundry. A man will talk about it. Attack him. You will then fight 100 men. You can do this as often as needed. This will help your money and your weapon.
Dona Dona's home
At the beginning after you fight the man on the bridge, go underneath it. Look in the shack and see who is in there. Talk to him, say something like "What are you doing?". He will say "This is my home."
Stealing from the girl
If you befriend with the girl, you can steal her items. Just throw them out the door then move them as desired.
Funny father expressions
After you chase the man with the afro and the girl in the "Quick game completion" trick, walk behind the wall and talk to her dad.
Quick game completion
Use the following steps to complete the game in about one hour. At the start of the game, you normally fight the man. After the fight, tell him "Ok...". He will ask if you want to join his clan. Answer "Not interested...". After that, take out your sword to frighten the girl. She will get scared. Say to her "Give me all your money..." or something like that. She will run off.
